Building Quinte’s future workforce through stronger employer connections

How can construction and skilled trades employers find the people they need to grow? Strong hiring connections often begin before a position becomes available. Employers need trusted partners who understand their workforce needs and can connect them with qualified local candidates when opportunities arise.

That was the focus of EmployNext’s participation in the Quinte Home Builders’ Association Builders’ Golf Classic on September 15, 2026, at Black Bear Ridge Golf & Resort. The event brought together builders, contractors, and business owners from across the region.

What are Quinte employers looking for?

Employers need more applicants. They need access to candidates whose skills, interests, and career goals align with available opportunities.

Conversations with local employers gave EmployNext an opportunity to listen to employers and learn more about their hiring needs, workforce challenges and plans for growth. EmployNext works with local employment service providers to prepare job seekers for employment and connect businesses with candidates whose skills and goals align with available roles. Stronger employer relationships also give job seekers clearer information about available careers and workplace expectations.

Sandy and Stephanie from the Centre for Workforce Development joined EmployNext at the event. The organization provides local labour market information and works with businesses across Hastings, Prince Edward, and Lennox and Addington Counties. Together, EmployNext and the Centre for Workforce Development brought two perspectives to these conversations: employment services and local labour market insight.

Supporting Quinte’s future workforce

The tournament supported two local priorities:

  • Children’s Safety Village: The event contributed to the organization’s capital campaign to relocate to a new space at Hillcrest Park. The Village provides hands-on safety education for children in a miniature community environment.
  • Quinte Careers in Construction Fund: The fund supports efforts to introduce local youth to construction and skilled trades careers, helping build awareness of opportunities in the sector.

How EmployNext connects employers with local talent

Employer engagement is not limited to filling today’s vacancies. It helps employment service providers understand the skills businesses need and prepare job seekers for real opportunities in their communities.

By building relationships with Quinte employers, EmployNext can help businesses access qualified local candidates while giving job seekers more opportunities to explore meaningful careers. If you are an employer in construction or the skilled trades, connect with EmployNext to discuss your hiring needs.

Thank you to the Quinte Home Builders’ Association for bringing the region’s building community together and to the Centre for Workforce Development for joining these important workforce conversations.
